Adam and I planned on undertaking two large tasks as soon as we got back from Nauvoo.
The first was transitioning Megan from crib to bed (we bought her toddler bed a couple months ago and after only 2 nights decided to keep her in her crib…for no real reason). Tonight was the first night in her bed since then, and the transition went off: without a hitch. I imagine that the novelty will wear off soon and she will start to comprehend her new freedom, but so far…so good.
The second task is potty training. Megan has started to show some signs of being ready so we are going to give it a try. No, I will not be one of those moms who gives detailed information about how it’s going. You won’t get any nasty stories here or see any pictures of my daughter as related to this process. I know I don’t enjoy reading posts like that, so I’m not going to put you through it. We’re in no hurry, so we’ll just see how it goes.
In other news, we bought Megan a “Word Whammer Fridge Phonics Set” just because she loves letters so much and we thought she might be bored of just playing with the regular magnetic letters. She was excited to have 32 more letters to make words with (there are 7 repeated letters in the set). So now she uses her new letters, plus the ones she already had to make words like: daddy, mommy, or Mississippi (okay just kidding about the Mississippi). Before she only had 2 of each letter, and even then, some have gone missing. One thing that she was NOT excited about was the fact that the “word whammer” only had enough room to make 3 letter words (you put the letters in and it spells out the word you made). Sure she liked that it would say, “dog” or “cow” when she put those letters in, but she didn’t like that she couldn’t fit “apple” or “Megan”. Yeesh, Megan. Why you gotta be so hard to please?
The video is just of her trying it out for the first time (and yelling at it when it didn’t say “cow” for her) and the above picture shows how she tacked the “L” and “E” after the whammer to make “apple”.
Also, I am currently reading “Breaking Dawn”. I am actually not as into the “Twilight Series” as much as probably everybody else who reads it, but I do enjoy the books. I am actually having a hard time with this one. It seems to kind of drag on and on. I hadn’t even planned on getting it right away, but my wonderful husband insisted, and I am glad he did because of course I was interested in finishing the series, and now I’m as cool and trendy as everyone else. Well…maybe not quite yet.
That’s all for now.
First off, what do you use to get your pictures so beautiful with some of it black and white and still color in it? i love that effect!
Megan is so fun! good luck with the transitioning. love the video!
I’m still so amazed at how smart Megan is.
I love the bed picture! Don’t you wish you could sleep in that position!
