This afternoon, Jack will be taken off of the ECMO machine. There are several reasons:

– each day that passes poses higher risk of bleeding in the brain
– his cannula site (or the place where the tubes enter his body) is leaking more and more each day (meaning blood is oozing out of his neck where the tubes are)
– it just doesn’t seem to be helping him.

This morning they did a “trial off” of ECMO and Jack handled it well. The surgeon will come in this afternoon and remove the cannulas, and Jack will go back to being supported solely by a high frequency ventillator.

We do not know what this means for Jack. The truth is, he could live hours, days, or weeks and then pass on.

He could get better.

We just don’t know.

Pray for Jack.

  3. Our prayers and fasting are for you and for sweet Jack! He is such a special spirit that has brought us all so much closer. We love him like he was our own and pray that we can keep him close. He has helped me look at life so much simplier…Family is a Gift that lasts Forever! It is a gift that is forever and we must cherish each day that we have together. We love you guys so much and are praying for you with all of our hearts. I wish more than anything that I could come up there and help in any way. Please know that even though we are miles away our thoughts and prayers are with your family constantly.

  4. I too have been a watcher for awhile. Trevor and I talk about it every once in awhile but for the most part I log on to find out how Jack is that day. I love you guys so much and so admire you for your strength and courage. Our prayers are of course with you tonight as they always are.

  5. Elizabeth, It’s Heather Wilson’s sister Joanna. Heather has kept me up to date on your sweet baby Jack. I think about you often and I will be praying hard for him tonight. I hope Heavenly Father will comfort your heart. I hope you don’t mind me reading about him. He is such a beautiful boy and such a fighter, I just had to come on here and see a picture. I wish you all the best.
