Temple to Temple 5K and Setting a WORLD RECORD

Standard

On Pioneer Day (Utah Day) we participated in the Temple to Temple 5k. It started at the Provo Temple and went through Provo to the under construction Provo City Center Temple (or the old tabernacle.) Megan was especially excited about participating in a 5K. This girl has seen one too many episodes of “The Biggest Loser”, I tell you what. We recruited my cousin Joshua and his family to join us. We basically walked the whole thing with Adam and some of the kids running off and on.

We woke the girls for the event. Bright and early and ready to go.

I looked up and saw this action. Not sure who initiated it. These two are socially awkward buddies.

After we finished, I thanked Megan for motivating me to participate in my first 5K. She replied, “you are 29 and this is your first 5K? I’m only 7! How embarrassing!” Thanks Meg…

That evening, we once again joined up with Josh and Sara (and Heather and Kyle) for the Orem Owlz game. Little did we know that we were going to be a part of record-breaking history that very night! As we entered the gate, they gave each person a pair of Orem Owlz sunglasses. During the 7th inning stretch, everyone in attendance put on the glasses and we were all a part of a world record for “most people wearing logo sunglasses at night.” The event was also part of a movie being filmed (108 Stitches) and part of the documentation will be a panoramic shot of everyone putting the glasses on at the same time. The previous record for the sunglasses wearing record was 1,600. With over 5,000 people in attendance, the record was well shattered!

Following the game, which the Orem Owlz won, the stadium was lit up with fireworks celebrating Pioneer Day. We had AWESOME seats for the fireworks and the girls LOVED it! Megan was found crying afterwards, and when I asked her what was wrong, she replied “I’m just so happy!” She LOVED everything about the evening.

We loved spending time with the Kelley families. Thanks for the memories!!!
