My sweet little Megan is now eight years old. I don’t know why I was blessed with such a wonderful little girl. She isn’t the easiest, but she is the sweetest, kindest, most loving and caring little eight-year-old I have ever known.
I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again, she is sincerely without guile. She just doesn’t know how to purposefully be hurtful or unkind to others. She cares about people so much and she tries to hard to be thoughtful and considerate to those she is around.
We had a calm family day on her actual birthday. She opened gifts at various times throughout the day, she enjoyed birthday brownies in lieu of a birthday cake, and we hit Sam’s Club (her choice) for pizza for dinner.
A couple of days later we continued her birthday celebration with my sister and her family. We went swimming and then went to a neighborhood party where there was dinner and bounce houses.
Megan had a great 8th birthday. She has made the decision to be baptized and her baptism will take place on July 5th in Las Vegas, Nevada. I feel so blessed to be her mother. I love her so very much and even more so with each passing year.
On June 14th my sister Ann ran the Provo Marathon. She brought Katherine and Sarah and Norine for a girl’s weekend at our house.
The kids had fun playing together and Uncle Adam took them to the newly renovated Monte L. Bean Life Science Museum which they loved.
Saturday morning dawned bright and early and Ann was off. She did awesome and we all went to cheer her on at the finish line. We were all so proud of her.
After Ann’s marathon, the children all participated in a 1K. They had a great time (except Janie who fell pretty bad and scraped up her knees…)
It was a fun weekend and everyone loved participating in the marathon. Megan in particular was so interested in the marathon and was so excited for her Aunt. Congrats again Ann!
The first Saturday after school ended we decided to hike up to “Y Mountain.” It is not the easiest hike. The trail is pretty steep in places. When we went last time, both girls were rockstars. This time the children were a little less enthusiastic. Megan did great, but got tired sometimes. I think she walked the entire way herself. Jane wanted to be carried the ENTIRE time. Little stinker. And Alec made things hard by wanting to walk. Ha! But we made it and everyone was happy to get to the “Y” and that we did it!

Finally to the top! Yay!
Can’t beat the view. Beautiful Utah Valley.
Cutest little hikers!
