Baby Cora Jean

Standard

My sister Sarah and brother-in-law Anthony welcomed their fourth child into the world Thursday afternoon.

Little Cora arrived at 2:43pm weighing in at a tiny 6 pounds 8 ounces. She is just a little doll and I love her already! Congrats to the Vidal family. Can’t wait to meet her in person!

3 Times in One Week OR 3 Times in Five Years

Standard

The last time I updated my blog, Megan was recooperating from being sick. Today: same thing. The poor girl has been really sick this week. I think she is finally on the mend (although, it is well after 10:00am and she is still asleep). This week she slept in our bedroom with me for a few nights, while Adam slept on the couch. Ironically enough, Adam has never slept on the couch before this week in all our five years of marriage. If I do say so myself, sleeping on the couch only three times in five years (and ONLY because the baby was sick) is a pretty good track record!

And speaking of Adam and how wonderful he is…

Megan had woken up in the middle of the night and gotten really sick all over her bedding and clothes and carpet. After we got everything cleaned up and in the wash and Megan all cozy in our bed, Megan got sick again in our bed. Clothes and bedding had to be changed again, and another pile of laundry was created. It was 2:30 in the morning, but Adam stayed awake until the first load of laundry was done so he could start the second load right away. He’s just that awesome.

Anyway, in other news, I hope to post a birth announcement later today for my newest little neice: Cora Jean. My sister is in labor right this minute, so by the end of the day there will be a new Marshall baby to love. That makes me an aunt twenty-five times over!!! Oh, and with three more Marshall siblings expecting within the next five months, that number is steadily increasing! By October my mom will have TWENTY grandbabies!!! Ten boys and ten girls! SO FUN!

Anyway, can’t wait for baby Cora to arrive!!

Okay, so it seems like forever since I last blogged. It’s not for lack of things going on in our life, in fact, it’s just the opposite. We are keeping pretty busy these days. The weather has finally taken a turn for the best, so Megan and I are spending a LOT of time outside.

Adam is working full time, and this month he will also begin research for his doctorate! Originally we were told that there wouldn’t be enough money for him to start until the Fall, but BYU must have found some spare change because they are letting him start early.

Megan is doing well. She seems to be on a communication rollercoaster where somedays she is doing really well and somedays she struggles. She is happy though. Well, except today. She seems to have picked up a nasty flu bug and is spending the day recovering from a long night. The picture below was taken just hours before she woke up really sick. What a sweetheart.

Like I said, a lot of things have been keeping us busy the last few weeks, but perhaps the highlight was: Family Home Evening at the Nickel Arcade. Initially, Megan did NOT like being there at all. She was turned off by all the loud noises and the flashing lights. BUT when daddy won the JACKPOT of 1000 tickets on one of the games and set the alarms blaring and people starring, Megan was in Heaven! To this day, she still talks about how we won 1000 tickets!

Well..I guess this is enough of an update. As hoped for, things are going really well for us and we are settling into what has become our “New Normal” in our “New Life.”

And now I leave you with a little teaser of a post soon to come…

Couldn’t you just eat her up? I have to fight the urge EVERY day!!!
