Megan: Halloween 2007

momanddad.jpg

So I hadn’t checked to see if Megan’s costume fit her until it was actually time for her to wear it. I had kind of tried it on her a few weeks ago just to do some measurements. But when I was finished working on it, she was asleep and I just never got back to it. It turned out SOOOO cute on her! We took her to the park for pictures and she loved walking around and crunching the leaves. She was laughing SO HARD because Adam was throwing leaves up in the air. We had a blast!!! Check out our Web Album for a few more pictures of our little bumblebee and our other halloween activities.

Fun Facts…

Standard

So we don’t have too much to report this week. However, I have been tagged a couple times so I thought I would just do one of those for this week.

Family Facts: so I guess I am supposed to write 10 fun facts for each family member. Here goes…

   Adam Kenneth Johanson007.jpg

  • He was born on February 8th, 1983 in Adana, Turkey.
  • He is the fifth child in a family of six. He has 3 brothers (one younger) and 2 sisters.
  • He played the trumpet in middle school, and can play the piano beautifully.
  • He was on the varsity football team at our high school.
  • He was a valedictorian.
  • He served a mission in Frankfurt, Germany.
  • He has a bachelor’s degree from BYU in physics and astronomy with a minor in mathematics.
  • He LOVES BYU football.
  • He loves to sing
  • He really enjoys “superhero” movies and television shows and wishes he was Peter Petrelli…

      Elizabeth Marshall Johanson032.jpg

  • I was born on August 2nd, 1983 in San Bernardino, California.
  • I love to read, and I usually read at least 500 pages a week.
  • I was on the varsity basketball team in high school and was recruited by a couple colleges.
  • I have to have a clean house. I get very uncomfortable if my house is disorderly.
  • I have a bachelor’s degree from BYU in psychology with an emphasis in child development.
  • I LOVE to sing, but only in private.
  • I have always loved children and have always wanted to be a mom first and foremost.
  • Several times a day I get “teary-eyed” over things that touch me (a song, a memory, something spiritual, my daughter…etc.) I don’t cry, I just get emotional.
  • I like all sorts of music, and know A LOT of songs.
  • I enjoy taking pictures.

     Megan Johanson030.jpg

  • She was born on June 26th, 2006 in Henderson, Nevada.
  • She doesn’t have a middle name. I didn’t have a middle name until I got married and then my maiden name became my middle name. I am hoping the same for Megan, but it’s her choice.
  • She LOVES to sing along with music.
  • She breathes heavily out of her nose when she is excited; something she has done since she was brand new.
  • She is very curious and observant; another thing she has been since she was born.
  • She loves waffles and yogurt.
  • She hates story time at the library and starts screaming if I even try to take her into the story time room.
  • She loves Veggie Tales, and sings along with the theme song. She actually says a few of the words correctly, but for the most part she just vocalizes.
  • She remembers how to get to places and knows where we are going. For example, when we drive through campus to pick up daddy, she says “dada” over and over again. When we pass the library, but don’t go in, she gets upset.
  • Lately she really enjoys walking around backwards.

Well, that’s all for now.  I hope you enjoyed learning a little more about us!

I’m so glad when Daddy comes home…

Aren’t Sundays supposed to be the day of rest?! Ha! It’s 10:00 at night, and our Sunday has finally calmed down. Sundays are getting to be pretty busy for us. We don’t mind because we are doing all things good. Anyway, my mind is still racing from the busy day, but I will try to remember what exciting things to report about from this week.

We’ll start with the Cougar victory. Woohoo! It sure is too bad that we haven’t been able to watch the last couple of games and we won’t be able to watch the next several, but at least we can listen to them online.

So, on Saturday morning, Adam asked me if maybe I would like to go to a movie while he listened to the game. I was pretty excited. We decided earlier this week that I need to have some alone time at least once a week (besides just running random errands without Megan). Adam and Megan stayed home and listened to the game while I went and watched “Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix”. At first I was apprehensive about going to a movie by myself (I have never been alone before!) but it actually turned out to be quite relaxing. I was able to focus on the movie 100% without worrying about Megan since she was with her daddy. I really enjoyed myself, but I drove home a little faster then necessary because I missed my Megan and Adam. Adam had a great time with Megan and was able to listen to the game just fine.

Adam and I have also resolved to go out alone more often. I had dinner at my visiting teaching companions house on Wednesday and was very impressed with their 12 year old daughter. I have since asked her to baby-sit Megan this upcoming weekend. We are going to try to get out on a semi-regular basis. I think it will be good for all three of us.

On Saturday Megan and I did our regular deep cleaning while Adam was at choir. We were in the back bedroom when we heard Adam come through the door. Megan literally ran out to the front room and threw herself into Adam’s arms. She cuddled up and hugged him for at least 3 minutes (that’s actually a pretty long time). I have never seen her so glad to see her daddy. It was actually really sweet.

Well, I guess that’s not too much of an update on the week happenings, but our pictures have more details. It’s 10:30 now. I am going to relax with my husband! 006.jpg

Special Anniversary

Standard

I meant to write yesterday, but our Sunday turned out to be pretty busy.  We had to be to church early, as well as stay late.  When I finally got free time, I elected to just relax with Adam and Megan.  So here I am on Monday.

On Monday of last week, Megan and I had a special “mommy/daughter day.”  I know I spend all day, everyday  with Meg, but I wanted to make Monday a special day because it was the two year anniversary of when we found out we were pregnant with Megan.  We celebrated by lots of play time together and also by going to the park, a bookstore where Megan got to choose a new CD, and out to lunch.  I also let her skip her nap so we could fit in all the activities we wanted to do.  It turned out to be a really great day for both of us.  I posted pictures from our entire day of adventure on picasa.

Tuesday Adam was able to go to the library with us, which was fun.  Megan and I also went again on Friday because the ward’s mom’s group was meeting there instead of at the park.  Friday night Adam’s fellow grad students came over for games and junk food.  It was fun for me to get to know the people Adam spends all day with, and I think we all had a pretty good time.  Megan stayed up way passed her bedtime so we were all exhausted by the end of the night.  We slept in on Saturday and had a really good day together.  Saturdays are my favorite because that’s the one day I get to have Adam home ALL day (except for an hour or so in the morning when he is at choir practice, but I use that time to deep clean the house so it still works out).

A quick update on what’s going on with Megan:

 ·         She absolutely LOVES Veggie Tales and will actually “sing” along with the Veggie Tales theme song.

  ·         She LOVES to sing

 ·         She has two teeth coming in on the bottom.  This puts her tooth count to 6 (well, almost)

 ·         Her hair is getting more and more blonde each month

 ·         She likes to jabber and says a few words consistently, but she isn’t talking as much as she used to

 ·         She is starting to RUN and loves to be chased

 ·         She loves to do AIRPLANE on mommy’s legs, and her favorite part is crash landing

 ·         She is an EXCELLENT eater

 ·         She is up to 17 pounds!

I guess that’s about it for now.  We’re not quite sure how it works, but Adam and I love her more and more everyday.  We are sure lucky to have her in our life.

Sleepy baby

Standard

Whoa Nellie… it’s 9:45 and Megan is STILL asleep.  This is a first.  She has not been napping well the last few days, so I guess she is exhausted.   I’ve decided to go ahead and let her sleep in.  Usually I would wake her up if ever she was asleep past 8:30 or so.  I’ll let her have a break for once 🙂

So we had a great conference weekend.  I think it was the first time we have watched conference alone.  Usually we would watch it with family.  Megan especially loved the music.  She played in her room for most of the conference, but when the music started she came out and was glued to the TV.  She also sang along.  For the most part it was just vocalization, but she did bust out some “EIEIO” a few times.  It was pretty cute.  She loves music.  Also, she has recently started loving “Veggie Tales”.  Her favorite is Bob the Tomato.  She laughs at him EVERY time.

Megan started eating really well last week.  She usually is a pretty picky eater, but she has finally started to be more adventurous.  We went to a friend’s house for dinner on Monday, and she loved the stuffing they served with dinner.  She probably would have licked my plate clean if we let her.  Since then, she has been eating so well.   She is eating a variety of things instead of just yogurt all the day 🙂

Adam was bummed because he missed his mission reunion this weekend, but a couple companions emailed or called to say they wish he could have made it.  Friday night he was at the ISU observatory checking out a planet that is not in our solar system and doing some other work for class.  He really loves Astronomy and is enjoying learning more and more.

I finished the book “New Moon”  this week.  I absolutely loved it.  It’s about vampires and werewolves which is subject matter I never thought I would enjoy, but like I said, I loved it.  It is the sequel to “Twilight” which I also liked, but not as much.  There is a third book called “Eclipse”  which I have on hold at the library, but I think I am like 7th in line.  They are by an LDS author: Stephanie Meyer.  I have Patricia Stevenson to thank for getting me into them.  I am reading “Harry Potter 5” while I wait for “Eclipse.”

Oh I hear the monster.  I better go get her.  I will put some pictures on picasa later.  I am not sure I took too many this week, but I will post what I have.
